IETLS Writing Task I #1

You recently organised an all-day meeting for your company, which took place in a local hotel. In their feedback, participants at the meeting said that they liked the hotel, but they were unhappy about the food that was served for lunch.
Write a letter to the manager of the hotel. In your letter:
  • say what the participants liked about the hotel
  • explain why they were unhappy about the food
  • suggest what the manager should do to improve the food in future

Dear Sir/Madam,

I am writing to give you some feedback on our recent stay at your hotel. I have booked an all-day meeting for my company last Thursday, and the overall experience has been positive except for the lunch served.

Our conference was held in the main hall of the hotel, and the facilities provided were top-notch. The projectors worked smoothly and we have not experienced any difficulty with the speaker either. Moreover, the temperature was kept at a very comfortable level in this cold winter. 

We had enjoyed every bit of the conference until lunchtime. There are two problems with the buffet served in the dining hall. First of all, the food was not properly heated, and the soup was not drinkable when it was cold. Secondly, there were not enough vegetarian selections, there is only two dishes that are vegetarian-friendly. Given that I have already notified the hotel about a sufficiently large number of vegetarians in our participants, I would suppose you have made the proper accommodation.

I would suggest that the hotel be more careful about making sure the food are well heated before served, and keep the customers' special accommodations in mind to not let them down.
