How to migrate to Canada? My Journey to Canada Starts now
After spending 9 years in the States, I came back home to China, specifically Hong Kong. Given the political unrest and the unaffordable housing in Hong Kong, I have long been contemplating migrating to Canada. Now I have finally decided in my 30s, I will start the process with no further delay. Canada overall is a migrant-friendly country, especially for skilled workers. Anyone who has the skill needed in Canada and would like to give it a shot should try it out. To migrate to Canada, you will need to pass a certain score threshold. Any applicant will be scored on several dimensions. Anyone who is interested can visit the site here: https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/services/come-canada-tool-immigration-express-entry.html
In the states, even with a valid work visa (H1B), you will still need luck because of the lottery draw process. However, for Canada's Express Entry Program, anyone who passes the score requirement can apply, and those who are ranked higher among the applicants will be invited for permanent residency. For the past couple of rounds, the score for invitation has been consistently ranked 470+. These numbers are at their historical high, so it seems like more and more people are looking to migrate to Canada. Given my situation, I will need an almost perfect IETLS to be competitive in the pool. For a non-native speaker like I am, even after spending 9 years in the States, I am still not confident that I can make it in the speaking and writing section. I have done some real past IETLS tests and scored quite well in Reading and Listening. Anyhow, I am trying my luck and kept practicing for the writing and speaking part of the test. The test is only two weeks away, I will be posting my practices for the writing tasks, and hopefully, anyone can see how I can get better writing.
